Rapunzel is a German fairytale in the collection assembled by the Brothers Grimm. It tells the story of a lonely couple who have a beautiful baby girl but were forced to give her up to an evil witch, Dame Gothel. When Rapunzel is twelve she is locked up in a tower that has no stairs or door. Access is by climbing up Rapunzel’s long golden hair which she hangs out of the window. One day a prince hears her singing and climbs up her hair and they fall in love.

This sculpture is made from one copy of The Original Folk and Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm.
