This is a German fairy tale recorded by the brothers Grimm in 1812. A young brother and sister are taken into the woods by their father a woodcutter and their stepmother to fend for themselves in times of famine. The children are kidnapped by a cannibalistic witch who lives in a house constructed of cake and sweets. The two children escape with their lives by outwitting her.
